Modify permissions for your Microsoft Stream video
Microsoft Stream videos can appear automatically among your videos, such as from a recorded Microsoft Teams meeting. Or video files can be added manually via uploads from your device. As the owner of your videos, you control the permissions for watching (and modifying) your videos.
- Microsoft Stream videos currently cannot be publicly shared for viewing.
- You can set the video permissions to be viewed by anyone with a Marquette account. Microsoft Stream calls this "companywide access" and "Allow everyone in your company to view this video."
- Or you can limit the video viewing permissions to a Microsoft Teams site.
Follow these steps to check permissions on videos you own and change them if needed.
- Go to office.com. If you haven't recently logged in to Office 365, you may be prompted to sign in.
- The Office 365 home appears. If you don't see the Microsoft Stream icon, click or tap the App Launcher icon
in the upper left. A menu appears with a list of Apps. If you still don't see Stream listed, click or tap All Apps. Then select the Stream icon.

- Click or tap My Content > Videos.

- A list of your videos appear. Videos with a green icon are shared Marquette-wide (also called companywide access). Videos with a gold icon are limited access videos.

Changing a Marquette-wide (companywide) video to a limited access video
- When listed on the "My Videos" page, your videos have a column of permissions icons. Look for the green company icon. Or hover over the icons. See how companywide videos have a "visible to organization" label.
In the row of a companywide video, click or tap the pencil icon to update video permissions.

- The video details page appears. In the center column are the video permissions. Uncheck "Allow everyone in your company to view this video."

- Microsoft Stream prompts you to confirm you want to remove companywide access to this video. Click or tap Yes.

- The "Allow everyone in your company to view this video" option is now unchecked — but is not applied/saved yet.
Notice how only the owner, Iggy the Golden Eagle, would have access to this video. IT Services recommends owners assign a Microsoft Teams site to the video with viewer permission.
Instructors: You can log in to CheckMarq's Faculty Center and request Teams sites for your courses with enrolled students as members.
Let's give video viewing permission to members of a Teams site. In the permissions center column (zoomed in on the pictures below), click or tap the "Share with" drop down menu.

- From the drop down menu, select My groups. (The "Channels" menu option is not for Microsoft Teams; it's for Microsoft Stream channels.)

- With the "My Groups" option selected from the menu, type keywords into the text box for your Teams site. Click or tap the magnifying glass icon to search. From the search results listed, select your Teams site.

- All members of the Teams site Ornithology 1001 will have viewer permission to the video.

- To change the permissions, click or tap Apply.

- The Microsoft Stream page for the video appears. The video is no longer companywide. The video viewing is now limited to the Ornithology 1001 Teams site.

Changing a limited access video to a Marquette-wide (companywide) video
- When listed on the "My Videos" page, your videos have a column of permissions icons. Look for the gold limited access icon. Or hover over the icons. See how limited-access videos have a "visible to private" label.
In the row of a limited access video, click or tap the pencil icon to update video permissions.

- Check the "Allow everyone in your company to view this video" checkbox.

- Unless you intend to seek comments, click or tap the on switch to turn off Comments for the video. Notice how Iggy the Golden Eagle appears twice in the center permissions column. Recordings of Microsoft Teams meetings have this permissions setup by default when saved to Microsoft Stream.

- To change video permissions to companywide and turn off comments, click or tap Apply.

- The Microsoft Stream page for the video appears. The video now has companywide viewing access with comments turned off.

Sharing your Microsoft Stream video
- After modifying video permissions, click or tap the Share button.

- A sharing screen appears with a web address to share the video. Click or tap the Copy button to copy the web address for sharing. Click or tap the Close button.

- Share the link you copied with members of the Teams site or via D2L for class videos.
