POST-ABORTION HEALING AND RECONCILIATION
"Rachel mourns her children; she refuses to be consoled because her children are no more. Thus says the Lord: 'Cease your cries of mourning. Wipe the tears from your eyes. The sorrow you have shown shall have its reward."
Jeremiah 31: 15-17

A LOVING, FORGIVING CHURCH
Both before and after abortion, feelings of fear, anxiety, guilt, panic, and pressure are common--not only for the woman who undergoes the abortion but also for close friends, relatives, even medical personnel.
For believers, the pain of abortion is intensified by a sense of alienation from yourself, God, and church especially when messages from society often encourage abortion.
If you are experiencing this pain, we want to reach out to you in compassion and concern.
Above all, we want to help you throughout the healing process.
Project Rachel is named for the Old Testament woman who wept inconsolably over the loss of her children.
WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT
Project Rachel is a sensitive, private, and confidential experience.
You will meet individually with a specially trained Project Rachel contact person in a pastoral counseling setting to help you sort out your feelings and deal with unresolved conflicts with yourself, family, and friends. In a caring and hopeful manner, Project Rachel ministry helps you to move toward reconciliation--with yourself, your family, your church, your God.
Your contact person will be able to direct you for further counseling through the Marquette University Counseling Center or the Archdiocese of Milwaukee if desired.
For Catholics, the process can include the Sacrament of Reconciliation celebrated with a priest who has received special preparation for this ministry.
