Lifting Trophies: A Marquette alumnus’s story of resilience

The 2021 NBA Finals brought the world’s attention to Milwaukee. With just 30 seconds left on the clock in game six, Francisco Manzano-Arechiga, a Marquette alumnus who now works as a marketing coordinator for the team, recalls thinking to himself, “Wait, this is really happening. It’s not a dream.”

And before he knew it, the Bucks brought the city its first NBA Championship in 50 years.

As a first-generation college graduate, that July night represented the culmination of all his hard work, dedication and resilience. And, just like the Bucks’ last couple of seasons, Francisco went through monumental changes before achieving his dream of working for a professional sports team.
