Every year, 130 current Marquette students welcome the incoming students to Marquette by serving on SPARK or Orientation Staff. Positions include the Student Directors (5 students), SPARK Leaders (30 students), and Orientation Leaders (110 students).

Student Directors for New Student & Family Programs

Students Directors for NSFP work part-time during the spring semester, and full-time from May through early October to plan and coordinate events and staff training. Five Student Directors generally have experience either with Orientation programs, other large scale programs or events, and are expected to demonstrate strong leadership skills. The Student Director 2023 application is now closed.

SPARK Leaders

SPARK Leaders are chosen to facilitate small group discussions and staff student and family events at SPARK. SPARK Leaders are expected to learn strong leadership skills, and they are paid a stipend for their work during SPARK. Check back soon for more information about how to join our 2023 staff.

Orientation Leaders

Orientation Leaders (OLs) are student volunteers who facilitate group discussions, staff events, and generally provide a welcoming atmosphere to new students (both first-year and transfer) during New Student and Family Orientation. The time commitment for Orientation Leaders is concentrated in late August. The Orientation Leader 2023 application will open January 2023.

Transfer Orientation Leaders

Transfer Orientation Leaders are six student volunteers who facilitate group discussions and staff for events specifically related to incoming transfer students. Transfer students looking to be a part of staff can apply to work with either first-year students or transfer students. The time commitment for Transfer Orientation Leaders is concentrated in late August. The Orientation Leader 2023 application will open January 2023.
